Egypt’s Zamalek Sports Club (SC) wins the African Handball Champions League in the coastal city of Hammamet, Tunisia held between October 20 to October 29.
Egypt’s Zamalek Sports Club beat Tunisia’s Espérance Sportive in the final by the score of 31-29. This is the tenth time for Zamalek SC to win this tournament.
Zamalek SC won the first three editions of the African Handball Champions League which were celebrated in 1979, 1980, and 1981. Also, Zamalek SC was crowned the champion in 1986, 1991, 2001, 2002, 2011, and 2015.
This was not the only triumph the Pharaohs achieved at the 2017 League. Al-Ahly SC snatched the bronze medal after winning against Tunisia’s Association Sportive d’Hammamet, by 23-21.
Last year, 2016, Al-Ahly won this League and it was its fifth victory; Al-Ahly was previously crowned the champion in 1985, 1993, 1994, and 2012.
In 1990, Portsaid SC was the winner of the League, so in total Egyptian clubs won the African Handball Champions League 16 times.
