A footage of a prayer posted by the Evangelical Church page on Facebook on Friday went viral as it was shared over 20,000 times on Facebook. The video shows the leader of the choir dedicating a prayer for Muslims so as to protect their health and well-being from the possible repercussions of the hot weather when fasting.
The footage elicited comments from thousands of Muslims who appreciated and praised the attitude of the church and the Christians. The commentators thanked their initiative and wished for their ‘Christian’s Brothers’ welfare.
“We want to pray for our fasting brothers[Muslims], I don’t know how they are fasting in such weather!” said the leader of the choir before the prayer’s commencement.
The ceremony was held in Marjerjis Hospital in Shubra. This was part of the church’s 50-year charity tradition; the Coptic Peace association distributed cartons of basic commodities to the poor people in Shubra in Cairo.
Sheikh Mohamad Qutb had previously claimed that Christians and Muslims are of one blood, and the distribution of the cartons is to be without distinction between Christians and Muslims.
