Illegal Immigrant Saves Child Dangling From Balcony: Earns French Citizenship

Malian ‘Spiderman’ rescues child in Paris, France.

An immigrant, who has now been labeled ‘Spider-Man of Paris’ is caught on camera quickly scaling the side of an apartment building to save a terrified child that was clinging from a fourth-floor balcony.

Twenty-two year old Mamoudou Gassama, is an illegal immigrant currently living in France according to a human-rights group.

The accident was uncovered on Saturday evening when firefighters were called urgently to an apartment block in northern Paris after receiving continuous reports of a four-year old clinging for his life on a balcony. However, upon arrival, the firefighters have found that Gassama had already saved the young boys life.

The video footage revealed Gassama climbing the the four floors in other 3o seconds while the crowds below cheered. Gassama, however, reveals that although the crowd encouraged his bravery, he had been terrified.

“I climbed up like that, and thank God, I saved him,” he says “I was scared when I saved him ad we went into the living room, I started trembling and couldn’t stand anymore,” he continued.

“Mamoudou Gassama usefully reminds us that illegal immigrants are human beings with immense courage, which they have proved during their perilous journeys to Europe and it’s courage that has continued to show itself here,” said SOS Racisme, a collective of anti-racism NGO’s.

After being hailed by French President Emmanuel Macron for his bravery on Monday morning, Macron later announced that Gassama could seek French nationality and that the fire service was ready to offer him a job.

AFP news agency reported that, according to the preliminary investigations, the child had been discovered left home alone. The father of the child was taken into custody, while the mother was not in Paris at the time of the incident.
