Amira Adib Warns of Legal Action Over Claims Surrounding ‘Viral Friendship Wedding’

October 3, 2026

Egyptian actress and singer Amira Adib said she may pursue legal action over what she described as false and misleading claims surrounding a video of a wedding-themed celebration she attended with friends in Berlin.

In a statement posted to Instagram on Saturday, 3 October, Adib said she had already addressed the “misunderstanding” surrounding the gathering and would not tolerate the continued circulation of false information, misleading reports, or selectively edited content that misrepresented the event or harmed her or her family.

Videos and photos from the gathering circulated widely on Egyptian social media, where some users claimed that Adib had attended a same-sex wedding involving three male friends. Other posts alleged that she had acted as an officiant or witness at the supposed ceremony.

However, the original video said it was a celebration of friendship among roommates that had known each other for a long time.

Adib first responded to the claims in a video posted to TikTok on Friday, 2 October, explaining that no marriage had taken place and that the gathering was a celebration of a 15-year friendship between the three men.

The celebration was organised around the idea of giving a long-term friendship the kind of ceremony typically associated with romantic relationships. The friends deliberately adopted elements of a wedding, including formal clothing and a ceremony, as part of the concept.

According to Adib, the idea emerged from a conversation about why romantic relationships are celebrated through weddings and anniversaries while long-standing friendships rarely receive similar recognition.

She also said the three men were in relationships with women and that their partners attended the gathering, responding to claims circulating online about the nature of the event.

Following her initial clarification, Adib issued a more formal statement on Saturday, warning that any defamatory statements, false claims, or deliberate dissemination of misleading information after her clarification would be addressed through “the appropriate legal channels.”

“I appreciate everyone who has chosen to verify the facts and approach the matter responsibly before publishing,” Adib wrote, asking for the same level of accuracy when information about the incident is shared or reported.
