Egypt’s Nour El-Sherbini and Germany’s Simon Rösner Win the Tournament of Champions

Egypt’s Nour el-Sherbini has won the J.P. Morgan Squash Tournament of Champions in an all-Egyptian women’s final against Nour el-Tayeb.

El-Sherbini, ranked first internationally, defeated el-Tayeb, who is ranked the seventh, by a score of 3-2, in a match where both showed their best.

This is the second J.P. Morgan’s title for El-Sherbini as she previously won the competition in 2016. The first Egyptian female to win J.P. Morgan’s title was Raneem el-Welily, who is currently ranked second internationally, in 2015.

Following the women’s final, the men’s final took place between Egypt’s Tarek Momen, ranked the seventh internationally, and Germany’s Simon Rösner who is ranked the eighth.

Rösner beat Momen by a score of 3-1, to be the first German in history to win the J.P. Morgan Tournament of Champions.

The J.P. Morgan Tournament of Champions, which takes place annually in New York, US, is one of the most prestigious squash international championships.
