Egypt’s coastal city of Alexandria has held one of its largest ever sports festival, the Alexandria Sports Festival, attracting at least 5,000 participants.

Held on Friday, the event attracted thousands of cyclists, runners and everyday people hoping to go for a walk.

Aimed at raising sports awareness and to encourage a more healthy lifestyle in Egypt, which is among the top 20 countries in the world with the most obese citizens, the event has been hailed a great success by locals, organizers and government officials.
