Massive Fire Engulfs Cairo’s International Conference Center

A massive fire has broken out at the Cairo International Convention & Exhibition Centre injuring at least 4o people.

Photographs from the scene show huge billows of smoke rising over the Conference centre and Nasr City as fire-fighters struggle to contain the fire.

According to state media, at least 16 fire engines have been sent to contain the flames. The cause of the fire, which started in the centre’s administration building, is not yet known.

The Cairo International Convention and Exhibition Centre  is the only comprehensive conference centre in the country and is built over 58,000 square meters.
