One of Egypt’s most iconic actors, Mahmoud Abdel Aziz, passed away on Saturday, announced the Egyptian Actors Guild.
The actor, who was married to Egyptian actress Poussy Chalabi and is survived by two sons, passed away after a long struggle with an illness, said the Actors Guild.
Abdel Aziz starred in more than 90 films and more than 10 television shows, including the television soap Al Dawama and the movie Al-Saher. Another of his most popular works includes his role as an Egyptian spy in the trilogy of Refaat Al-Gammal.
Abdel Aziz also recently starred in Bab El Khalk in 2012, after a seven year absence from Egyptian television.
The legendary Egyptian actor was born in Alexandria in 1946 and graduated from the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences of Alexandria University before starting his acting career in the 1970s.
While at university, Abdel Aziz made use of the university’s theater to develop his acting skills.
