Egypt Wins Two Silver Medals and One Bronze at the 2017 World Games

Egypt has achieved three medals, two silvers, and one bronze, at the 2017 World Games held on July 21 till 30, 2017 in the city of Wroclaw, Poland.

At the men’s competition for billiards sport, Egypt’s Sameh Sidhom won bronze.

Egypt triumphed with two silver medals at the sumo competitions – the Japanese form of heavy weight wrestling – thanks to Ramy Helal and Misbah Hossam. Helal earned the second place at the heavyweight men’s competition, while Hossam ended the second at the middleweight men’s competition.

Egypt’s delegation to Wroclaw included players Hala El Gibily who competed at the archery in addition to Ahmed Shawky, Omar Abdel Rahman, and Sara Sayed at the Karate. Fathy Aboul Rokb at the sumo lightweight. The beach handball men’s team consisted of Mohamed Serag El-Din, Mohamed Shaban, Akmal Shaban, Eslam Ahmed, Abdel Rahman Mohamed, Hany Salem, Mohamed Tarek, Seif El Din El Said, Essam Aly, and Mohamed Wagih.

The World Games 2017 in Wrocław is an event that means more than 30 sports disciplines such as various water, aerial or team sports. It involves sports and practices that do not compete at the Olympic Games. Recognized by the International Olympic Committee and organized by the International World Games Association, this enormous event is held every four years, a year after the Summer Olympic Games.

The upcoming World Games falling in 2021 will take place in Birmingham, Alabama, USA.
