Egyptian squash champion Nour El-Sherbini, who is ranked the first internationally, wins the Carol Weymuller Squash Open for the third time in a row.

Carol Weymuller Open is a squash tournament for women celebrated annually in Brooklyn, New York, USA.

The first time for Egypt to win this championship was in 2011, thanks to Raneem El-Welily who is currently ranked the third internationally.

In 2015, El-Sherbini was the second Egyptian to seal victory after beating New Zealand’s Joelle King, ranked third, in the final by the score of 3-0 (11-5/11-6/11-3).

A year after, El-Sherbini won the final against England’s Alison Waters, ranked the eighth, by 3-0 (13-11/11-6/11-3).

The 2015’s scenario was repeated at the 2017’s championship, which took place from October 19 until October 23, 2017. Again, El-Sherbini met King in the final. The Pharaoh was crowned the champion of the 2017’s tournament after beating King by 3-0 (11-7/11-5/11-3).

Commenting her triumph El-Sherbini said “Joelle has been killing it in the last two weeks, I think that she has beaten most of the top five now – Nour, Raneem, Nicol, Laura, everyone! I’m glad it wasn’t my turn.”
