Having scored 36 goals in 41 games since rejoining the Premier League last summer – his Super Hat-Trick on Saturday marking him as Liverpool’s highest scoring player in their debut season – the world is now becoming accustomed to hearing Mo Salah’s name among the world’s most talented footballers. Salah has certainly got Egyptians excited, so in celebration of the sportsman as a source of national pride, Vodafone Egypt has announced that customers will receive free minutes for every goal he scores.

Customers will have to sign up for the ‘Mo Salah World’ bundle, which will see them receive 11 free minutes – the number on his t-shirt – every time he scores. Considering there are around 43 million active Vodafone users in the country, this could be an extremely costly endeavour for the company – an endeavour potentially costing over $140 million.

Salah became a Vodafone ambassador earlier in the season, and after moving to Liverpool for €42 million last year, he is considered the most expensive Egyptian, Arab, and African footballer in the world. He is pinpointed as an inspiration for young people to achieve their ambitions and create a better future.
