Suicide Bombing Strikes Istanbul’s Main Shopping Street

At least four people have been killed, including a suicide bomber, and 20 wounded after an explosion in central Istanbul, reported local Turkish media outlets including CNN Turk.

The bombing, which occurred near Taksim Square, struck the city’s busiest pedestrian and shopping street that includes restaurants, shops, bars, clubs and other stores and services.

Last week, a car bomb in Turkey’s capital city of Ankara left at least 37 dead and 75 wounded. The explosion occurred in central areas of the city and comes after  a number of bomb attacks that have rocked Turkey’s capital, the most deadly of which was an attack against a peace demonstration in October which killed 103 people.
