Egyptian Man Rescued After Livestreaming His Kidnapping

August 10, 2026

Egyptian security forces rescued a man who livestreamed on Facebook while allegedly being held inside the back of a refrigerated truck after being kidnapped by two brothers over a financial dispute, the Ministry of Interior said on Monday, August 10.

The ministry said authorities investigated a video circulating on social media showing the man inside the truck, where he could be heard calling for help from security forces.

According to the ministry, the incident was reported on Monday when the owner of a food warehouse in Qalyubia informed police that his son, a student, had been kidnapped by two food merchants using a refrigerated pickup truck.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the kidnapping stemmed from a financial dispute involving the victim’s brother, who had allegedly obtained goods from the two merchants without paying for them.

Security forces identified and arrested the two suspects, who are brothers and residents of Shubra El-Kheima, along with the vehicle allegedly used in the incident.

The kidnapped man was rescued, and the two suspects reportedly confessed during questioning to abducting him over the financial dispute.

Legal procedures have been initiated against the suspects, according to the Ministry of Interior.
