The UK has announced a ban on electronic devices on planes from Middle Eastern countries, following a similar move by the US.
Earlier, United States (U.S) has confirmed the imposed ban on large electronic devices on flights from nine airlines of eight Muslim majority countries, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has announced on Tuesday.
The ban is reportedly set to continue for seven months. Electronic devices larger than a cell phone will have to be checked in with the baggage and none will be allowed in cabins.
EgyptAir is included in the US decision, along with Royal Jordanian, Turkish airlines, Saudi Arabian Airlines, Emirates, Etihad Airways (Emirati airline), Royal Air Maroc, Kuwait Airways and Qatar Airways.
The UK decision will impact EasyJet and British Airways flights departing from Middle Eastern and Arab countries, including Morocco, Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, and the UAE.
Beyond an unidentified terror threat, no information was provided regarding reasons for the ban.
