Egypt’s Squash Players on Quick Climb to Success

By Maydaa Abo El-Nadar Egypt’s Squash Player Mohamed El-Sherbini achieves his fourth Professional Squash Association (PSA) title after defeating England’s Kyle Finch on May 6. In the final match of the Bull Ring Open Squash Championship, El-Sherbini won by a score of 3-0 (11-4/11-8/11-2). Throughout the whole championship, El-Sherbini only lost one game which was in the first round of the match, against Belgium’s Joeri Hapers. This match ended 3-1 (11-6/6-11/11-9/11-6) to El-Sherbini. In the quarterfinals El-Sherbini defeated England’s Mark Fuller by 3-0 (11-8/11-5/11-7), while in the semifinal the Egyptian champion won against France’s Benjamin Aubert by 3-0 (11-9/11-9/11-2). The Pharaoh is taking a quick climb to the ladder of success. On April 13, he achieved his first ever PSA title by winning the Assore & Baldwin Parkview Open.  On April 21, he clinched his second title after winning the West Rand Open. One week later, on April 28, the Egyptian champion won his third title in row, thanks to being the champion of the Keith Grainger Memorial UCT Open Squash Championship. The four tournaments took place in South Africa, which seems to be the country of luck for El-Sherbini….
