Mohamed Salah ‘Not Among Starting XI’ in Uruguay World Cup Match

Egypt’s national coach Hector Cuper announced on Friday 15 June 2018 that the ‘Egyptian King’ Mohamed Salah will not be in Egypt’s starting XI for their game against Uruguay.

According to a press release, Mohamed Salah will be on the bench available as a substitute.

Instead, 29-year-old Marwan Mohsen, who has featured in 22 international games, will be Egypt’s main striker for the match against Uruguay.

The players who are among the starting XI are the following:

1. Mohamed El Shenawy (goalkeeper)

2. Ahmed Fathy, Ahmed Hegazy, Aly Gabr, Mohamed Abdelshafy (defence)

3. Tarek Hamed and Mohamed Elneny (midfield)

4. Amr Warda, Abdallah El Said, Mahmoud Treziguet (attack)

5. Marwan Mohsen (striker).

The players who will be substitutes are:

1Essam El Hadary (who would be the oldest player in the history of the World Cup if he features in any match), Sherif Ekramy, Ayman Ashraf, Saed Samir, Mahmoud El Wench, Ahmed El Mohamady, Amr Gabr, Shikabala, Ramadan Sobhy, Sam Morsy, Mahmoud Kahraba, and Mohamed Salah.
