Youmna

Youmna Hazzaa is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice spans ceramics, writing, photography and design. Before working with clay, she spent the first decade of her career as a conceptual creative and art director in advertising, where storytelling, observation, and the development of ideas became central to her way of making. Her ceramic practice began at Islington Arts Factory in London (now Spirelight Studios) under the guidance of Kayley Holderness, before continuing as a resident artist at Turning Earth Highgate. Working under Little Stories, she explores memory, materiality, and process through handbuilt forms, self-developed glazes, and an intuitive approach to making. Her work is driven by curiosity, balancing technical experimentation with process observation. Now based in Cairo, she works from a studio in Fustat's Potter's Village and studies at Jameel House of Traditional Arts as a recipient of its two-year art grant. There, her practice continues to evolve through an engagement with traditional craft techniques, material research, and glaze development.
