Egypt’s national junior table tennis team won the Bahrain International Table Tennis Championship, marking the latest Egyptian win in sporting events.
In addition to victories in squash, taekwondo, archery and handball, Egypt’s table tennis champions Dina Meshref and Amr Assar also landed top spots at the International Table Tennis Federation’s (ITTF) African Cup, held earlier this year in Khartoum, Sudan.
While Assar won second place in the men’s category, Meshref emerged at the top of the women’s category after edging out Congolese player Han Xing.
Meshref has secured several victories throughout her table tennis career. She is currently ranked as the number 1 table tennis player in Africa and is set to compete at the 2016 Table Tennis Women’s World Cup in Colombia later this year.
