Another remarkable sports achievement for Egypt is in the bag, as Sara Samir and Esraa el-Sayed win Gold in the IWF Junior World Championships in the women’s 69 kg snatch on Wednesday, Egypt Today reported.
The IWF Junior World Championships began on July 7 at the Uzbekistan Sport Complex in Tashkent and will end on July 14.
Sara Samir won the 69 kg clean and jerk gold medal, 69 kg snatch and silver in 63 kg clean and jerk.
Meanwhile, Esraa al-Sayed also won a gold medal in the snatch and two silver medals in the clean and jerk under 63 kg in the IWF. The gold medal was judged by the quality of the performance, since Tunisia’s Ghofrane Belkhir and Uzbekistan’s Fayzullaeva Kumushkon registered the same weight lifted.
Four other Egyptian players are also competing in this competition, including Ahmed Kamel, Ahmed Ashour, Osama el-Garhy, and Mohamed Hesham.
Last year, four players from Egypt also participated in the World Championship competitions: Ahmed Saad, RagabAbd El-Hai, Sara Samir and Shaimaa Khalaf. Moreover, Mohamed Ihab secured three gold medals for Egypt since 1951 at the World Championship.
