Police forces foiled an attempted terror attack outside the US Embassy in Cairo, arresting a man who attempted to detonate a bomb in a bag.
Video from the scene appeared to show a man walking to barricades outside the US Embassy. A small, likely premature, explosion occurs in the backpack, forcing the unidentified man to the ground. Moments later, police arrested the man and destroyed the backpack in a controlled explosion.
Following the failed attack, the US Embassy urged American citizens to stay away from the area and advised them to monitor local news.

Reasons behind the attack are still unknown.
Elsewhere in Cairo along the road to Ain Sokhna, Egyptian police killed four gunmen who police say were planning an attack. No civilians or security forces were injured.
Although bombing attacks in Egypt have recently eased, in some areas, including the capital Cairo, still experience some terrorism. These occasional attacks by armed militants mostly target security elements.
