EgyptAir announced on Wednesday, 26 August, a global partnership with Spain’s football club (FC) Barcelona for three seasons, extending through the 2028-29 season.

Under the terms of the deal, EgyptAir will become a global partner of the Catalan club, becoming the official airline partner for Barcelona’s men’s soccer team as well as its basketball and handball squads. Handball players will wear the EgyptAir logo on the front of their jerseys during matches, and the airline will receive additional marketing benefits as part of the partnership.

The club said the agreement reflects EgyptAir’s strategy to grow its fleet and expand its international route network to improve its services.

According to the club, the deal offers a chance to widen the global reach of its brand, tap into new markets and strengthen its international standing.

Marc Bruix, Barcelona’s head of global partnerships, said linking the club with EgyptAir, a leading player in international aviation, was a natural step in its expansion efforts.

He added that the sponsorship reinforces Barcelona’s commitment to bringing its values and passion to fans across the Middle East and Africa, regions where the club said it maintains a substantial following.

Ahmed Adel, chairman of EgyptAir Holding Company, described the sponsorship as an unprecedented milestone for the airline, noting that the partnership pairs one of the most storied clubs in the world, the reigning Spanish league and Spanish Super Cup champion, with a carrier whose history spans 95 years.

The collaboration would open new avenues for connecting with soccer fans worldwide, he noted.

EgyptAir, based in Cairo, was founded in 1932 and ranks among the oldest airlines in the Middle East and Africa.
