Alwanat Al Minia – or Colours of Minia – Arts and Culture Institute to hold the first ballet performance in Upper Egypt with the efforts of 50 male and female dancers.
The performance is directed by Mamdouh Hassan, a soloist at the Opera House and a professor at the Ballet Institute.
The show to be attended by Minya Governor Essam Bedaiwy, President of Cairo Opera House Enas Abdel Dayem in addition to a delegation of artists from the Opera House.
Alwanat ballet team performed on June 30 at Cairo Opera House and staged another show in cooperation with the German Goethe Institut and the German Embassy attended by 2,000 audience members.
As the first ballet school in Upper Egypt, Alwanat encourages people from the ages of 4 to 20 to take part in various artistic and cultural activities. Alwanat offers drawing, acting, filming and playing musical instruments lessons.
The institute takes a step forward against the conservative culture in Upper Egypt. Moreover, it allows people from Minia governorate to have space to learn different forms of art outside the school.
Although Egypt enjoys a number of cultural centers, they are mostly located in Cairo and Alexandria excluding cities in Upper Egypt.
Egyptians who live in Upper Egypt and the countryside remain considerably limited in terms of exposure to artistic and cultural hubs and activities.
The ballet show is scheduled to take place on Thursday in Minia.
