Egypt’s Randa Tag el-Din Wins Gold at the World Para Powerlifting Championships

After Egyptian champions Rehab Ahmed and Sherif Osman won gold at the Mexico City 2017 World Para Powerlifting Championships, Egyptian athlete Randa Tag el-Din won the women + 86 kg competition securing the third gold medal to Egypt.

Tag el-Din achieved the gold medal after a 138-kg-lift.

The Egyptian champion previously won gold at the 2016 Rio Paralympics and secured two silvers at the 2012 London Paralympics and 2008 Beijing Paralympics.

Earlier on Sunday, Egyptian Sherif Osman secured a gold medal at the Mexico City 2017 World Para Powerlifting Championships after lifting 205 kilos.
Osman also won the gold at the Paralympic Games which were held in 2008, 2012, and 2016 at Beijing, London, and Rio de Janeiro.
Shortly after Egypt’s Sherif Osman won gold at the Mexico City 2017 World Para Powerlifting Championships, Egyptian athlete Rehab Ahmed secured another gold at the same event.

The champion won the women’s competitions for the category 50 kg after lifting the amount of 113 kg. The silver medalist was Vietnamese Thi Linh Phuong who lifted 107 kg. Turkish Besra Duman lifted 106 kg and won the bronze medal.

A similar scenario happened at the 2016 Rio Paralympics where Ahmed won silver with a 104 kg lift followed by Thi Linh Puhong Dang who won bronze with a 102 kg lift.
