Watch ‘Despacito’ Goes Viral on Egyptian Beats

A number of Egyptians have been giving the catchy song ‘Despacito’ an Egyptian twist and the Internet seems to be loving it. Many have been using musical instruments like violin and tabla to create new instrumental versions of the top hit.

Violinist Ahmed Mokhtar creates a soulful track of ‘Despacito’ using the violin. Posted on 9 July, the video has received 153,000 views on Facebook.

In Egypt, no tabla is no fun!

Adel Nabil and Peter Nageh Gabra decided to add oriental beats to the Spanish ‘Despacito’ creating a fun video that is hard to resist dancing to; they published a video on Facebook that received about 1.3 million views.

The top hit ‘Despacito’ by the Puerto Rican pop artist Luis Fonsi, featuring rapper Daddy Yankee, achieved more than 3 billion views on YouTube.

Reports have revealed that the global smash has boosted the interest of foreign tourists to visit Puerto Rico.

According to local Spanish media outlets, tourists who developed interest in traveling to Puerto Rico increased by 45 percent since the song began to play worldwide. Tour operators in Puerto Rico have included some of the areas and places where the music video was shot such as Club La Factoría in Old San Juan and La Perla sector.
