Egyptian Woman Drives a Truck, Breaks the Tradition

A lady taxi driver called Um Khaled decides to break the stereotype and drives a 36-tonne lorry.

Um Khaled decided to take the challenge and drive a lorry after overhearing two male taxi drivers mocking her for driving a taxi.

“Is he belittling me or what?” mumbles Um Khaled.

She decides to drive a lorry just like the male drives.

“My job is my kingdom. My truck is my house,” says Um Khaled. She adds that she has prepared her truck to meet her needs; there is a bed at the back of the truck and the front cabin represents her living room where she spends most of her day.

Um Khaled has taken the full challenge starting from taking a mechanics course to help her troubleshooting any malfunctions in the truck in addition to enrolling in specialized driving lessons.
