The Egyptian national football team has won its match against Uganda 1-0 during 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier.

The first and only goal was scored by Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah after only six minutes, the rest of the game saw no further goals despite close chances of scoring from the Egyptian football team.

Celebrations were held after the match had concluded. Egypt hasn’t been able to qualify for the world cup since 1990.

The North African country now has 9 points, lying at the top of Group E. While Uganda has 7 points and Ghana has five points, according to the BBC.

Egypt is set to meet with Congo on 8 October. However, Congo has only one point and is almost impossible to qualify for Russia World Cup 2018. Should Egypt defeat Congo and Uganda fail to score against Ghana in their next match, Egypt will secure a seat in the World Cup 2018.
