At least seven suspected terrorists have been killed in a shoot out on Sunday after the police security forces had raided two apartments in Al-Agouza district, according to initial reports by the state-owned Al-Ahram.
One militant had detonated an explosive device to prevent the entrance of the policemen into the building, which led to the injury of at least three policemen, according to Reuters.
A source also told Reuters that authorities received information about the hideouts of the militants who are suspected to be a part of Hasm militant group.
Hasm has claimed several attacks on police checkpoints and multiple attacks since last year. While the Egyptian authorities believe that Hasm is a part of the Muslim Brotherhood group, the latter denied this claim. The vast majority of the terrorist group’s operations targeted public figures and police personnel and checkpoints.
