Mo Salah ‘Slightly Injured’, Expected to Participate in World Cup: Egypt Officials

Mohamed Salah’s chances of representing Egypt at the upcoming World Cup in Russia appear to have increased, with Egyptian officials stressing that his injury from the Champions League Final is not serious.

“The injury is not serious,” said Egypt’s Minister of Sports Khaled Abdel Aziz.

“It should take two weeks to recover,” continued the Minister in a Facebook post, citing initial reports received from Liverpool’s medical team.

Egypt’s Football Association also tweeted positive words downplaying his shoulder injury.

“Liverpool’s medical team informed [the Egyptian Federation doctor] that they conducted an x-ray on Salah’s shoulder,” tweeted the Football Association.

“Its result is that the player suffered a sprain in the joints of his shoulder and added that based on this Salah should be able to play with the national team at the World Cup. It should take two weeks to recover.”

The comments from Egyptian officials come after Liverpool coach expressed his sadness and concern at Salah’s injury.

“Mo has gone to hospital for an x-ray,” said Klopp during a post-match interview.

“It is either the collar bone or the shoulder itself. It is very bad for Mo, very bad for us, very bad for Egypt.”

Salah was injured during the first half of Liverpool’s showdown with Real Madrid, with his injury leaving him unable to continue playing.

As he was wheeled off, Salah and his teammates all appeared shocked at the injury which was the result of a tackle by Real Madrid’s Spanish defender, Sergio Ramos, appearing to keep hold of the Salah’s arm as they tumbled to the ground.

Salah’s injury has caused concern not only in Egypt, but around the world.

The ‘Egyptian King’ has quickly become one of the most popular footballers around the world, winning hearts and minds during his spectacular performance with Liverpool this season.

Salah is reported to remain in Liverpool as he receives medical treatment.
