Empowering Egypt’s Entrepreneurs And Creating Sustainable Jobs

For Egypt, entrepreneurship has boomed since the 2011 revolution. While other segments in society may remain shackled, entrepreneurship has seen a huge rise in Egypt, with more youth taking matters into their own hands and developing creative and innovative projects and ideas. Enpact, a non-governmental organization founded in 2013 in Germany, has witnessed this change and has decided to play a role in further empowering Egypt’s entrepreneurs in order to shape a sustainable society. Running a mentoring program called ‘Engage-Participate-Act’, which is funded by the German Federal Foreign Office, the program is currently looking for 60 entrepreneurs across Egypt, Australia, Germany, Jordan, Morocco, Switzerland and Tunisia. The objective of this program is to foster knowledge exchange between these young entrepreneurs from different regions in order to equip them with the expertise to create sustainable jobs. In Egypt, where the unemployment rate is 13%, of which 78% are youth aged between 15-29, creating new, sustainable jobs is crucial for the economy and the future of the country’s youth.
